Taxation Analyst (Use SOC Code for Accountants and Auditors)
Description: Researches applicable tax laws and cases after review of client corporate operational and sales profile. Analyzes complex sales and use tax issues involving the revenue laws of various jurisdictions, among them, California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Washington. Clients are primarily business entities with multi-state operations and assets in the billion-dollar range. Works in team environment using specialized Vertex software, as well as Excel, Access, and Word. Prepares analytical reports, summaries, and presentations applying accounting and tax accounting principles and best practice. Such reports include recommendations for client systems improvements leading to resolution of tax compliance issues, depending on nature of engagement and complexity of issues presented. May be designated as team leader of 4-5 indirectly supervised persons from time to time for complex projects. Also reviews sales/use tax returns, account reconciliation, business license renewals, e-filing confirmations. Trains staff on the use of Vertex.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics or closely related, alternative major in Accounting
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in the job offered as Taxation Analyst or Accountant (Tax Associate) as alternate occupation
